so sorry to hear about your loss, hope youre doing ok ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ it does look like its doing good as of right now, but you might wanna get it in a pot with drainage holes, as a pot without them can lead to the plant sitting in extra water, which in turn leads to root rot, which can kill your plants. also make sure the pot is only 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball, as a pot thats too big will hold on to moisture for too long, also leading to rot. looking at your soil, it looks like it could do with some better drainage/mix ins - cacti really dont need water that often, and a medium that retains water for too long can be detrimental due to, you guessed it, root rot! you can get a cactus soil mix and add amendments such as perlite, coco chips, orchid bark, vermiculite, and even a little sand, or just mix in a ton of this kinda stuff into your current soil to be about a 1:5 ratio of soil:mix ins. also try to give as much light as possible - cacti live naturally in very bright reigons. i have mine under growlights for about 12-14 hrs a day. if you dont have a desire for grow lights, i think a south facing window would be ideal, but if anyone wants to correct me go ahead. if you do, barrina has some good lights for a pretty decent price, but their smallest light bars are a foot long. (room for more plants tho 😁) hope this helps!!

You most definitely need a pot with drainage holes and your current one may be too big. I also recommend Baby Bio Cacti and Succulent plant food. I am so sorry for your loss.

Yes, put it in a terra cotta pot, 4ā€ is plenty big. Forget using big box store soil, that won’t give your cactus what he needs. Use a speciality sand based gritty mix, and you will have one happy plant.
