Got a couple of questions here 1. Should I leave these hearts wound up like a crown or let them hang free? 2. A. As I was untangling them to see the full length I accidentally dropped the pot and we lost a few leaves, will they grow back or is this like other succulents where it will have a bare patch? 2. B. Therefore should I cut off the strings with no hearts? Ft the crime scene
crime scene LOL! but if they're not touching the soil, you're not going to get growth from those nodes, so a lot of those strings can be allowed to hang. the leaves will not come back, but you can circle those bare ones on the top of the pot and you'll have more success in getting new growth from it. if you run out of room at the top you can just start chopping them. they're semi-succulent, so they actually can be water propped and do fairly well at it.
0 likes i also recommend using some bobbypins to secure the nodes against the soil to trigger them to start doing stuff. for the stems that are bare but have leaves at the very bottom, you can "butterfly" the nodes with leaves; chop each node and put them in a humidity box with sphagnum. that's what i did with mine about two weeks ago and i'm starting to see roots
