I have had mountain ball cacti (Pediocactus simpsonii) before and I am getting a new one. I have kept them in pots down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit in pots, and my neighbors have kept them at -15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, Planta says that it can only go to 23 degrees Fahrenheit in pots. What is happening?

Planta lies sometimes… if you are buying a proper hardy variety and make sure you are treating it properly in the winter it should be fine. Cacti in pots overwinter just need an insane amount of drainage and depending on the variety as little water/moisture as possible. Can be better to put them in the ground depending on where you live

Thanks. I had a cactus in a pot for around 3-4 years outside and never did anything special for it. I was a little confused when Planta said that.
