Alfie’s garden

Hi guys n gals, this is my Echeveria ‘Black Prince’ Any ideas on what to do with these flower stems now it’s done flowering? I’m not sure what the marks are on the inner leaves also.

    Looks like its a very interesting plant! Sorry I cant help you. On the flowering part. I haven't seen one of these plants before. Smiles

    I had an echeveria do the same. Researched turned up nothing. Posted here with no real answer. It died after blooming unfortunately. I now have a garnet lotus doing similar but it is putting many side shoots. Hoping it continues because the flowers were amazing and kept blooming for months.

      Research for the garnet lotus turned up little help. One article mentioned it would put out side shoots and drop bottom leaves. Well it is doing just that currently but no mention of what happens with upper part of the plant. Or what to do with it. So it’s wait and see.

      The ol death shoot! Most varieties are not monocarpic but some like the Black Prince are. My echeveria also did this and the main rosette basically died but I chopped and am her bringing back to life.

      That was my assumption but all research said that they put out a bunch of pups before a death bloom. Mine had none. And always thought that a death bloom came from center, but Alfie’s doesn’t. So many questions but we are learning.

      Do you think removing the stems will make any difference to the life of this plant?

    And the marks on the lower leaves is probably edema from overwatering.

      Thanks, that makes sense. I neglected to move it away from a hanging pot above it that was exposed to a lot of rain we’ve had recently.

      That’s what I’m hoping. I’ve neglected this poor thing so I will remove stems and give it some new pot love.
