Me: “My monstrose is trying to unmonster itself.” Okay. This plant was listed as “monstrose,” but it has crests. After trying to explain what “monstrose” is, I realized I wasn’t sure about the terminology. So, after some digging, I now have a new term: “Cristate: This term is used interchangeably with crested, and refers to the fan-like shape of the plant. Monstrosity: This is another term for monstrose growth patterns, which often feature exaggerated or distorted features. Crested monstrosity: This term is used to describe plants that exhibit both crested and monstrose growth patterns.” Crested Monstrosity.

Thank you for the giggle and botany lesson.😊 I have heard cutting back the normal parts that try to grow helps keep a crested, crested. But I don’t have any, so I’m curious if that would actually work or not. Have you ever tried that?

I have not tried it, no. I’m still so curious where it’s going. Something like this, maybe 🤔

So true growth form can happen either way so I think better to not cut and enjoy the new monstrose form. 😊 what you can look forward to are the higher chances of flowering.

This makes your euphorbia a monstrose cristata! 😃

Pretty cool, no? I waited a few weeks - and did some head scratching/adjusting my vocabulary before laying that claim. And yah, I hear that it might now flower. I did this plant, a lot.
