My cereus cactus was rotting, I had to get it out the pot and waited couple of days to cut it. I cut it last night and as you see the cut was clean and green. Today look how it looks like. Is that normal?

Isn’t this what we call callus? 🤔 Idk i might be wrong. But whenever I have to propagate any plant cuttings, i let them sit for few hours and then put them in water.

I am not sure, I was thinking the same, however I get worried about looking black, but it might be callus. I hope so.
0 Mi piaceSucculents should generally callus for a few days and then be placed in gritty soil that is consistently moist but not sopping.

Thank you, so that is callus and no rot?
0 Mi piaceIt looks like it’s just drying out to me. When you touch it, is it soft or spongy? I wouldn’t think rot would start on the end on its own. It wouldn’t hurt to leave the soil dry for a few days, then check the bottom again before watering.

Black all the way up? Is there any green toward the top where you might be able to save a piece? I’m so sorry. It’s never easy to lose a plant baby.
