My cereus cactus was rotting, I had to get it out the pot and waited couple of days to cut it. I cut it last night and as you see the cut was clean and green. Today look how it looks like. Is that normal?

Isn’t this what we call callus? 🤔 Idk i might be wrong. But whenever I have to propagate any plant cuttings, i let them sit for few hours and then put them in water.

I am not sure, I was thinking the same, however I get worried about looking black, but it might be callus. I hope so.

Succulents should generally callus for a few days and then be placed in gritty soil that is consistently moist but not sopping.

Thank you, so that is callus and no rot?

It looks like it’s just drying out to me. When you touch it, is it soft or spongy? I wouldn’t think rot would start on the end on its own. It wouldn’t hurt to leave the soil dry for a few days, then check the bottom again before watering.

Black all the way up? Is there any green toward the top where you might be able to save a piece? I’m so sorry. It’s never easy to lose a plant baby.
