Hi all! I was gifted this beautiful aloe last summer by a neighbor and in the past few months she has tripled in size. Yesterday I found her flopped over. Her stalk was not cracked so I am assuming it is because she is top heavy. I recently repotted her because she was outgrowing her old pot. As you can see her top is much larger than her bottom. What is causing this?

Its time to chop and prop! Her bottom probably isnt growing as large bc the top is consuming all of the energy. A good chop and the bottom should start growing larger

Oh I was hoping that wasn’t going to be the case. I haven’t propagated yet and would be worried I would do it wrong.

These babies are so resilient! I promise you wouldn’t mess up propagating a climbing aloe. I had one that died but I chopped the top off that still had green, stuck it in water, and it’s been growing babies like CRAZY (pic)! You must just be giving her a great life and that’s what is causing the big healthy growth on top. Don’t be afraid to chop & prop! 🥰

Thank you. I don’t have a green thumb so this app has been really helpful. I am just extra nervous because this aloe was a gift when my neighbor was moving and I promised to take care of her.

The next question would be where to cut and what to do next with the top.

Cut right under where the large leaf growth has stopped and let the bottom Callus over from the top for 24 hrs And then soil it in soil! You can add some root growth serum on the bottom of the Callus if you would like help producing the new roots
