Hi everyone! I’m afraid I’m in the category of people who are horrible at keeping succulents alive. I got this aloe quite a while ago and she hasn’t given me just never been happy. Today I was trying to put her in a smaller pot since I read that they love tight spaces and noticed nither of them really had any root (I mean I knew that they wouldn’t but it was still a shock to be able to just pop them out with no fight) when putting them in the pot I think one of them snapped (it was my fault I wasn’t being careful) do you think they will be okay and is there anything I can do to help them. They are currently getting about as much light as in the picture and being watered on Plantas schedule.

How often is Planta saying to water them? I ask because it often will have you overwater plants, especially succulents, leading to root rot. I recommend that when planta tells you to water my succulents I check the soil with a wood skewer to make sure it’s completely dry and make sure the leaves are a little less taut than usual. If the soil is still wet snooze it and come back later. Another thing I wanted to bring up is that the soil you have it in looks super organic which holds on to too much water for them. If you put it into a soil mix with more chunks it will likely do better, I use premade cactus/succulent soils and add it pumice and other stuff to keep it well draining. As for those guys right now, they do look okay but I have a feeling that the roots may have rotted off them. I’d cut off any squishiness at the bottom if you see any, spray the roots with no stronger that 3% hydrogen peroxide, and let it callous over before popping it back in the soil and waiting a couple weeks to water it

That’s probably why it broke off so easy. I knew the soils was a problem but I don’t have any other succulents and my orchid used the last of my chunky orchid mix so I definitely need to finally get more. Thank you for the help I’ll definitely try to water less and get better draining soil for them. I’ll try to cut the roots but I’m always afraid of big things like that so I may take me a second to get the courage lol.
