I’m not completely confident but some types of cactus do have hooked spikes! I think this might just be a kind that does:)

Ooo, be careful of those. Those suckers are a pain to get out of your skin if they poke you.

Thank you for the warning! I am reasonably new to Cacti Care so anything helps! :)

Then, let me warn you about one more kind that got me in the beginning. There is a type of opuntia cactus called a bunny ear cactus that is really cute. Its spines look soft (and are) but don’t be fooled. If you brush against one of them, you’ll get dozens of spines stuck in your skin rather than one or two. Using tape, especially packing tape, can help get them out. But sometimes you don’t know they’re there until you go to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. Yikes! I even had a time where I had to go up to the cashier to see if they had any scotch tape to help me remove them. 😆

THIS LITERALLY HAPPENED TO ME A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND I HAD SPINES IN MY HAND FOR DAYS. But my bunny ears cactus is so cute I decided to keep it, but I’ll just admire it from a distance 😂

They’re intentionally barbed so they grab onto things and are difficult to remove

I got hooked with one of these fish hook cacti and damn let me say it was painful. It was almost like the cactus just grabbed me! Like it was alive and fully aware that it wanted to attack me because I was too close lol
