I need some help! Recently we were at a cute boutique giving away free succlents, as many as you want, my dream! Except they were all not looking great. One of the plants I brought home was a fang plant. So I have a couple questions! 1. Are they extremely pricey? I've seen big ones sell for upwards of $170 or was that different? 2. What can I do to help this plant recover from being outside and whatever else it endured? Thank yall very much for helping!

Fangs plants run about $10-20 for a 4" pot here. If it doesn't freeze hard where you're at they are pretty cold hardy and fine outdoors. Bright light, diluted equal part fertilizer

Thanks! I just wanted to double check as it would be my most expensive plant! Can you propagate them?

Yea. Any super large succulent or cactus are usually expensive since it takes them a long time to get to that size. Especially fairly intact. I believe you'd just propogate like any other succ. I don't have that species, but 2 other Kalanchoe. And I just remove a leaf, let it callus over for a day or two, dip it in rooting hormone, and plant it. The rooting hormone isn't needed, but just a habit I have

Recently rescued the cousin of your plant, a kalanchoe behartii, from an Ace Hardware. I can tell you what I did with mine, if that helps. I sprayed the leaves and top of the soil down with insecticidal soap. I would definitely check the soil for anything pest or bacterial and see if it needs a repot, and place it in a spot where it can quarantine for a few weeks in case anything it possibly contracted outdoors doesn’t spread to your other plants. Mine got quite used to being in bright sunlight outdoors, so I’ve been keeping it in a south windowsill this fall, but I do know some kalanchoe don’t tolerate cold temperatures, so if you want to err on the side of caution, avoid any spots inside that are too cold. Mine seems to have become very cold hardy and winterized through months outside of my local Ace from March to October without any protection from the cold, despite it getting much colder than a plant of this species can survive in. Mine was also practically cemented into a terra cotta pot because of how long it had been growing in the pot, and clearly had been frequently watered, but became rootbound in the terra cotta, so I ended up repotting, especially so I could ensure there wasn’t any excess mineral buildup or any bacteria that grew in/on the old pot that would harm the plant, so it’s always good to give the roots a quick check before it gets too cold to repot. Hope this helps!
