Show me the Greens!

Similar to my earlier post (re: gollum), I’m considering pruning my jade. It’s top-heavy and leaning. I was told NOT to cut the trunk, so my question is to where? I’ve posted my thoughts in the comment section. Thanks so much for your help. I’m so proud of the growth here; they’re so beautiful. Pruning makes me a little nervous.

I’m not sure about pruning, but if you want it to lean to the side less I would recommend rotating the pot. Most plants will grow towards the sunlight, so moving it a little bit every couple of days should change the direction that it grows.

Also keep in mind wherever you cut, two new stems will grow in their place

Jades are very hardy and can be cut back heavily if you want to. The rings you see on their stems are the growth points. So as long as you cut above a few of those it will put out new growth. You also can prop anything you cut off. This is 1 year growth since I cut it all back….

Research how to trim a jade on YouTube. Most people want more of a tree like plant. So you have to think about how the plant will be in another year or two. And even if you don’t really want the tree look, YouTube will demonstrate exactly where to trim. I trimmed mine back last November because I didn’t like the way it was growing . I hated doing it. Gave away over a dozen rooted stems and it is growing ok.
