it needed to be done, but I almost cried doing it...I moved her a place with more light and will let the babies callus over before planting. I have never had success propagating from a leaf, but I'm trying again-any advice?

Dip the ends and cover the sides where there used to be leaves with Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder. It’ll help the cuttings develop roots faster. Stick them into small pots with fresh, well-draining cactus mix, and bottom-water it. By that, I mean to place the pot into a bowl/container with water for 10-20 minutes, then take it out to drain in a sink or dry over a terra cotta saucer. Bottom-watering it will draw the plant to form roots downward, helping it develop a strong root system without overwatering it. Let the soil completely dry out between waterings (at least 18-20 days, and check that the soil’s dry before watering). I swear by Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent Mix. Avoid Miracle Grow’s soil, even their cactus mix. Check on root development every 15 or 30 days, and add more rooting powder if some of the cuttings are still lagging behind the others. Hope this helps 😊

No problem! Do you still have the base plant to work with? I’d be happy to try to help with that.

Yep! She looks like this now.....I couldn't decide whether to cut that top one too, but I was kind of hoping it would fill in?

My advice is actually to just leave the props alone haha. I have always just set the leaves on my windowsill and not touched them and that is super successful. They don’t need water because they get it all from the mother plant. Once it has roots and usually a little rosette I’ll put it in soil. Looks like everyone has their own way of doing things?

I have so many of those because they prop so easily. These and aeonium kiwis. I’ve gotten to the point that I just cut them off and place them in the soil. I don’t even bother waiting to callous over. Today I separated some out for giveaways. Trust me they will grow.

I just leave my leaf props on my windowsill and forget about them, no soil no water, about 9 of them have grown roots now!
