What type of cactus is this? I don’t think Planta can identify it correctly because every time I google search I get something completely different. I keep getting Mammillaria spinosissima and Mammillaria Rhodantha and I don’t know if they’re the same? Some of the pictures to both look exactly like my cactus. Please help lol I’ve had her forever and can never get an ID

Very nice cactus! I might very well be wrong on this, since I am far from an expert, but I did some searching and I think it might be either, Mammillaria duoformis, Mammillaria limonensis, or a Mammillaria petterssonii. If possible, could you give us a photo of what it looks like on the top? Or what its flowers look like (if any)?

Ok! So I do think that the identification of Mammillaria spinosissima is right despite all of the different photos that pop up. They have that weird sort of white splotch on the top with the reddish spines. My only problem with this label is the fact that the spines on yours are so long! If it weren’t for that pert I’d be 99% sure lol

Oh wait, actually maybe not now that I think about it. Mammillaria spinosissima does flower, so given that and the spine difference it could possibly be a close relative? Sorry I’m not much help on this, plants arn’t something I’m very good at haha
