Does anyone know anything about these bunny ear cacti? Every time I go near it without even touching the thorns I break out in a painful itchy rash. Poor thing only gets watered in the window because I won't go near it. I have at least 30 other cacti and have no problems with any of them. Ever heard of anything like that?

I recently saw a video talking about bunny cactus that said they have such fine tiny spikes that they easily just come off in a slight breeze so you might need too “isolate” it, I have a small one I keep in a glass bowl to stop the spikes from floating around

I usually don't take it out of the window because it's just evil. Lol. Last year I took a cactus brush and went to clean it off. Ended up with both of my arms being beet red and itching and even having a little bit of trouble breathing. Had to take a couple of Benadryl. Craziest cactus ever.

There’s no easy fix for glochids. Some Opuntia are just mean that way.

The glochids are like little fine hairs that break off very easily even with wind and get lodged into you. I saw on reddit that someone had to get them surgically removed

I once long ago thought it smart to put a large Opuntia paddle into a plastic bag to carry home. Hands, right leg, arm, and lips....glochids. It took months to get them all out of my leg. It was this species. Ouch.

I did the same a few years back! It had just rained before I did though and I think that helped knock off any loose ones.

Whenever I work on a spiney cactus I wrap it in newspaper to hold it. A few layers aught to do it

I'll have to try that with this one. I use tongs and rarely have a problem. But I swear this one sees me coming and starts shooting out those little thorns. Lol

I gave my parents a few pads of Opuntia because I knew mom would love the flowers once they popped, they thought I was crazy with how much I emphasized gloves and covering the things during travel. Yes you must have gloves to handle, yes I know I wrapped it in five layers of slightly damp paper towel, yes you do need to wash your arms and shower after planting them, Or Else XD

Not quite as sensitive as these bunny ears but even the normal pads will get you bad!!

After I water it, It feels like my hand has needles in it, but it doesn't. It goes away the next day. No rash
