i recently just watered this the other day and i believe i overwatered it:(. the base is mushy and i want to save her, can anyone help me out!! i’ve only had her for a couple of weeks!

    I’m not an expert but I have done this with caudex plants which are similar. I would un pot it and place it on a paper towel. Smell the base and see if it smells sour or bad. If so there is rot. Are the roots back? That’s another sign. If roots or base are soft but smell like mushrooms you may have got it in time. Let the plant base dry out for a couple of days to callus. Replant in a mostly inorganic soil. Make sure you use a screen and sift out the fine particles. I often find the dusty powder will turn to a mud and holds too much water. Water three days later.

    i think i can save it bc it doesn’t smell sour or bad! but not sure if the roots are in good condition

      I think you can save it too. A lot of water is stored in the plant material and they are drought tolerant. Let it air out for 2-3 days and evaluate. Keep it out of light but somewhere warm and dry. If you think the longer roots are limper at the ends you can cut it off. But if you cut roots I would do it soon because that would delay repotting. When you water again don’t add fertilizer or anything. If using tap water let it sit for 24 hours to allow chlorine to off gas. A good mineral water is good to maintain cellular integrity (mg and calcium). Careful with distilled water over time.
