    Propagate the top and leave about an inch or two of stem at the base and fertilize it. check the roots in the parent pot and repot if necessary.

    I agree. Chop top and prop. Place leaves you remove on potting soil and mist daily. They will propagate. I find even leaves with some damage may propagate.
