Hello! I got an easter cactus a years ago, and while my mom did take care of it for a few years, it's now been in my care since I moved to a bigger place. The problem is, even the years in college when my mom took care of it and since I've moved out, it's never flowered once. I've head some pieces of advice (like allegedly having it in a closet which seems risky?) that we had tried but didn't work. I was wondering if there was more I could do?

Short days and cool night temperatures (50 degrees) is what triggers the bloom cycle. 2 months before you wanted to bloom stop fertilizing it and give it equal hours of darkness and indirect light with the cool night temperatures. Day temperatures can be warm but don't put them by a heater.

Have you thought about maybe putting it in a bigger pot I had one at one time I went one month without watering it and brought into bloom by doing so

KJM nailed it on the comment, these guys won’t bloom without the “season/condition change”

You also might want to consider giving it the trim. This will keep the center full and generate side growths where it would bloom. I think they bloom on new growth.

If you've never cut back Easter cactus, you cut it in the middle of the pad and trim equally around the plant
