Hello, I’m wondering since this is my first cactus plant why parts are growing up on the bottom it’s in a good size bowl. I’m not quite understanding if it’s getting too much light not enough light here’s another picture.

    Do you mean that there is growth coming from the bottom of the stem? If so, that is normal. None of these are a cactus. I know the rosettes are echeveria. The other plant may be an aloe, but I’m not positive. They would be best separated. The echeveria on the left may have a couple issues. It looks overwatered and needs to be checked for mealy bugs. I see possible remnants. It looks like they are getting enough light.

      Thanks for your reply. how would I separate these and what type of soil should I repot them in?

      Probably at this point they will be entangled but gently separate and it’s ok to lose a few roots. You need some succulent/cactus soil. I use Jacks Gritty Mix and add a little regular houseplant soil. You can also get a big name brand such as miracle grow and add grit to it. Grit that you may have is perlite. Look up some recipes for succulent soil on google or YouTube. Planter must have drainage hole. I suggest shallow terracotta planters but not absolutely necessary.
