Show me the Greens!

Hello there! I imagine it’s normal (?) for some of the succulent “leaves” at the bottom of the plant to become old/yellow/fall off. But I’ve lost 4 this week. Anything you see or notice that would help me keep this guy thriving?

Typically the bottom leaves fall off as the plant continue to grow. Mine fall off all the time however they should still be firm and green. The yellow sogginess could be an indication of over watering your succulent. When you feel the leaves it should be firm but I noticed when they need water the leaves will become more squishy. Hope this helps!

I have another subspecies of echevaria… but my plant does this too. I don’t think it’s anything to be too concerned about, it just means your plant stem is preparing to grow taller. My dead leaves are also yellow and shrivelled so I hope it’s normal and not that I’m overwatering!

As they grow Echeveria bottom leaves will dry up and they can be easily pulled off at that time. If the leaves are yellow and very plump before falling off, then you are overwatering. It looks like you have one or two more turning yellow. The ones in your hand look like remnants of overwatering. Echeverias should be watered after the soil has been bone dry a few days. And the leaves will be soft and bendable, maybe even slightly wrinkled. On some echeverias the leaves will come together much closer sorta looking like a ball. Your soil may be another problem. It should have only a small percentage of organic matter. Yours looks to be much higher. Miracle Grow Succulent soil is not good but there are other brands that are fine. I use Jacks Gritty Mix. For echeverias it’s 100% Jacks, for other succulents I add some regular potting soil. And lastly they need sun or a very bright grow light. Pic of Jacks. Yes, it looks like gravel. Next pics are some of my echeverias, plus others.

I would put it in a bigger pot. The green inside the pot worries me for root rot.
