Hi everyone, i’m very new to the plant community. i have a few succulents which don’t really get a lot of direct sunlight and i was wandering if it would be beneficial to get a grow light? i haven’t heard of them before so let me know if you have any tips!! 🪴🪴

    I don’t have too many succulents but I’d say if yours need them then try it! You can get cheap clip on ones if you don’t want to buy larger more expensive ones. I’m not sure if it’s winter where you are but it is where I live and all my plants can stand to use a bit more light rn

    grow lights are great for all plants, it’s like having their own personal sun. my succulents were etiolating regardless of placement indoors here and now they are under 14 hour grow lights with really beautiful, compact and juicy new growth. my biggest piece of advice for someone new to succulents is that it’s always better to under water then over water, so if you’re not sure it’s time to water your plants it’s best to wait.

    Grow lights are available online. There are too many to choose from. You can start with a small one under $20 that clips to a shelf or table top. They have built in timers are energy efficient. You can also add a grow light bulb to a lamp or light fixture close to your plants. My grow lights are 1ft to 3 ft away from the plants.

      I just use the standard white. My plants are happy. There are grow lights that offer a combination of colors. I have not looked into the varieties or the usage.

  4. Plants are friends

    I have 3 different types of grow lights (I need more) I have the clip on with 3 heads, timers and colour changing, energy efficiency bulbs. I got them Christmas 2022 and it has been a hole game changer for me. I live in the UK so sunlight isn’t the greatest, I was able to keep the cactus’s in the bowl alive. Normally they don’t live long with me over winter.
