When repotting my jade “gollum” the roots were completely stuck to the bottom of the old pot that I’d say 70% of the roots were ripped off 😩 I transferred the poor thing to the new pot anyway and now just hope for the best! Anything I could do at all to help with the recovery? Thanks!!

I’d like to see some people’s tips too. I’ve been putting off repotting gollum jade for way too long because last time I also had a hard time. Mine is really big but really delicate. It’s been just hanging in there for years 😣 Out of all my ~100 plants, for some reasons a jade is the one I struggle to get to thrive 🤪

You should let the roots dry out a few hours before repotting to help form callouses to seal the broken root ends. This helps prevent bacterial/fungal infections. Repot afterwards. Add rooting hormone powder to boost new root growth. You may lose some branches or leaves with the large root loss. Just trim them if they die off and remove dead leaves off the soil.

Thanks for the tips! Fingers crossed the worst thing would just be a makeover with a bad “haircut”. We shall see :)

Avoid watering earlier than you would have before repotting. The plant may look worse before it looks better, but adding too much water or too soon sets up for root rot.
