I hadn’t paid attention to how much it changed until I saw the old photo. This was an “I’m bored” purchase at Trader Joe’s 🤘

What does it mean if a plant is sun-stressed?

Sun stress is the plant changing color to protect itself from sunburns. It’s similar to a tan. Hoyas, cacti and succulents are some plants that sun stress with many colors. The ability to produce beautiful sun stressed colors can increase the value of the plant. The picture is a Hoya New Guinea Ghost. A cutting with one node sells for $45 to $90!

Thank you for explaining this, as I feel about 20% confident that I’m doing this “right” ha. One of my haworthia started going pink underneath, and I moved it. It felt like one more task to deal with. This was purely accidental, as all I generally get is sunburned spots. I’m going to see if I can accidentally get these colors on my Gray Ghosts (image not mine).

It’s pretty! I like the pastel ombré look. I have not tried to sun stress a plant. I have two Hoya Pubicalyx plants that are close to grow lights. The new growth leaves are much darker due to proximity. They seem undamaged. So, I just leave them alone.
