I’ve had this guy for about 5 years now! He’s gotten really tall from when I originally got him, but he’s lost quite a few leaves and some of them are starting to detach from the stalk. Should I try propagating in the same pot?

Its a big pot for the succulent. The bigger the pot, the more energy the plant will dedicate to developing its root system instead of growing leaves and stuff above ground. But more importantly, a succulent that loses leaves and is tall is « etiolated » it is stretching as high and far as possible to try and find more light, shedding leaves along the way to conserve energy. I believe it needs far more light. I have succulents, i keep them under « Dommia » brand LED lights for 12 hours a day and it keeps them more leafy and prevents them from etiolation. You can definitely chop and prop, but prevent it from happening again by providing more light. You got this! 🙂
6 Mi piaceIt was in a much smaller pot before I moved it to this one in the last few months. Thank you for the tip! It’s super helpful and greatly appreciated. I’ll be sure to set my lights to a longer setting as well.
