STRING OF PEARLS QUESTION My new string of pearls soil is damp. It was watered 19 days ago. Is it weird that it’s still damp? Also some strands shriveled up and when I squeeze the beads they’re not entirely firm but not super squishy there’s a little give to them tho. Any thoughts on what to do? Should I leave it alone or is it over watered?

definitely change the soil asap to something with more drainage AKA more sand, pieces of bark, etc. it sounds like your soil is too dense/water logged

Ufff, if it’s been wet for 19 days, you definitely have root rot by now. That’s why they might seem underwater, they probably lost their roots. Don’t worry, it will bounce back. Change the soil to something super well draining. I make my own mix: 1 part potting soil- 1 part pumice stone (or perlite, decomposed granite). Cut off anything that looks rotten. You might have to remove a couple of pearls from the end if you have lost your roots. Repot and treat as cuttings, or not (depending on whether you have roots).

And be careful when you repot as the roots are delicate. Handle leaves carefully, they can drop easily.
