What’s is everyone’s favorite type of soil for cactus/succulents? I use the “Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm and Citrus 8-Quart Cactus Potting Soil Mix” from Lowe’s but I feel like I need something chunkier.

I’m never used their succulent mix but I feel like when I used miracle gro my plants had fungus gnats. Probably because I am an over waterer. I don’t have many cacti but for the ones I have I use bonsai succulent and cacti mix which is a soil less gritty lava rock mix.

highly recommend adding coarse perlite and pumice to your succulent mix. i use standard potting soil or coco coir for the moisture retentive part but i’d use up the rest of the miracle gro cactus mix with those amendments if i were you. ratios are rough but i try to aim for at least 70% grit / drainage material depending on the plant.

My father always used to add perlite, peat, or other things to amend his houseplant soil. I sure wish he was still here to get advice! How do you use the coco noir? Thanks!
