What soil do you all use for cactus and succulents. Can I just use potting soil and perlite?

    cactus potting mix is great for succulents and cacti. i use it for my succulents. i don’t recommend regular potting mix since succulents and cacti need a quick drying airy soil. regular potting mix won’t provide that

    you also can add some perlite to the cactus mix if you’d like

    One part soil to two parts perlite works for me. That cactus soil stuff is so expensive. I have over 100 succulents and they’re all doing great, well most of them. Lol. I tried a new mix with cocoa coir and compost and perlite that was recommended to me. Hated it. Definitely a good soil and some perlite added. I wish that we could message other people on here because there’s a gentleman that has shown his succulents and they are gorgeous. I’d sure like to find out what he uses.

      Ya the soil is expensive I’ll try 1 part soil to 2 parts perlite

    I don’t use any soil but you can, just make sure to amend it so it drains out quickly. You don’t want them sitting wet soil. Lava rock, sand bonsai mix. Pumice. All good options as well.

    most mixes will work great for cacti and succulents as long as they are mostly drainage material. i add coarse perlite and pumice to all purpose soil or coco coir, depending what i have on hand, until it’s 70-80% grit
