“The roots of this species will fill up the pot”’is the only phrase I remember about this one. It did this year, and it was looking very confused. Old photo shows the propagations I toyed with before I had to move. Smashed up shale courtesy of a day of trilobite hunting in Delta, Utah (circa 2018). At the end of the dig, the owner told me take as much shale as I want. I didn’t have plants at the time, so I “only” took around 30 pounds for no good reason than decorating the yard. After a few years, most of the pieces froze/cooked/split into thin layers and revealed fossils. A guy painting my house had to remind me, “You know you have trilobites in your yard?”

Those are cool. I have slate tiles in all bathrooms in my townhome and I can’t wait to replace them because they chip. I found no fossils!🤣🦖

Hahaha all fossil-free. The good thing about having them age in the yard is that no violence is involved in the extraction ha. I won’t accidentally rip the rock to shreds with a hammer in an attempt to split it one more time.

After almost two years, I’m still learning my Old Man! I’ve repotted him once and I’m learning to be ok with some limbs dying off here and there, but he’s doubled in size, so that’s a good thing. 😅🤷🏻‍♀️
