A cactus and succulent expert online recommended NOT watering cactuses from November to April (northern hemisphere). What do you guys think? I don’t have many cactuses, but I’ve had the same fairy castle for at least 2 years. I’ve always followed planta without an issue for that one. So I guess that answers my own question lol but I’m curious everyone else’s thoughts.

With my heat on and grow lights I water as normal all winter.

I’m totally confused about this question myself! I have several cacti and so far Planta is only forcing me to stop watering 3!

This is correct in conjunction with little to low light and cold temperatures. You would do this to induce dormancy. The expert’s full explanation most likely pointed that out.

Makes sense, I don’t have many cactus, but I have overwintered bulbs and tubers. I’m sure the experts explained more in an original video that’s since been buried. That’s the problem with clips/shorts/reels grabbing from longer videos and just saying “never water your cactus in winter!!” All the information has to be extreme and sensationalized and then becomes incorrect from being abridged 😮‍💨

I was scrolling through this group looking for the exact same question haha, I live in the northern hemisphere and am gonna try it this winter. Of course I’ll monitor conditions and water as needed but it would be really nice to take a break from watering cacti/succulents because I have so many 😅
