Hey everyone, I’m new to plants here. I decided to get some plants to help with my mental health after a difficult semester in which my dorm room faced a brick wall. No sunlight, bummer! Now I’ve got two cactus in a great big window full of sun!! Any beginner tips for taking care of these two lil guys?

It is entirely possible to love (water) them too much!

best way to start is heading to your local Home Depot or lowes and picking up some succulent soil and perlite! you can mix these two to create a soil for your cactus. i would focus on repotting these guys in some simple terracata pots. these are great as they absorb excess moisture from the soil, something that can be quite troubling when you first get into plants. Id focus on a similar pot size as the nursery pots. Keep them in that window and good luck!

I would recommend that you buy a pothos to add to your collection!!! They are super beginner friendly, they can survive in even super low levels of light, and it’s super fun to be able to watch new leaves sprout and grow!🫶🏻💚

I absolutely agree with Liv!! Pothos are super easy keepers!! You might also love aloe vera! They are a super easy to find succulent that's super hardy, doesn't require a ton of sun, and the gel from the leaves heals burns and is great for skincare as well! (Although you probably already knew all that lol!) Wishing you all the best with your plants & your mental health!!!! ✨🪴🌻
