Strange. I had used some store bought succulent mix soil and it has so much bark in it that it was laying in the soil sideways blocking water flow. I discovered when I tried to bottom water a few plants and they would not drink. Glad I changed every pot this weekend.

I just figured out that my week old hoya was dropping soggy leaves like root rot because most of the soil was bark and was holding water! Like your soil, the bark had settled to the bottom blocking the drain holes. Luckily, I checked the roots! I’m upset because that wasn’t a cheap hoya! 😩

Oh no! This time I used perlite and soil with worm castings and everyone seems to be happy. Even after another repot. I hope you can save your Hoya

Odd, I don’t think off bark when I think of succulents mix 🤔 Good thing you figured it out. It must be tough on beginner plant folks who wouldn’t know what was wrong

Oh man I hate when big box stores plant everything in straight coco coir. The poor zz plants just melting on the shelves…
