I want this species of crassula ovata. I have another kind of jade that is a tree, 12 years old and I love it but it never gets this color. This photo I took in a nursery and while they knew it was some kind of crassula ovata, they did not know specifics. Does anybody know? It is orange and smaller and shorter leaves than my traditional jade.

More full sun exposure will bring out the red tones!

My jade was outside in full sun all summer last year and never changed color. I think this colorful one is a different variety.

Yep, more sun. Mines almost all green when inside and like the one as pictured when placed in full sun outside

The one in the picture might be a sunset jade

If you’re still looking for this type of jade, I’d look for “crassula ovata crosby’s compact”. A larger variety that has the ability to turn a pretty yellow and red at the tips is called “crassula ovata sunset”, but the crosby’s compact would be what you’re looking for in you’re looking for something similar to this jade. I have a small one from a local nursery. Hope this helps.
