New to succulents… what would cause this plant to push itself out of the soil? I just got it and reported it and the bottom leaves keep going down and pushing the plant up.

This is an Aeonium. It goes dormant during summer. It’s leaves will go back up during it’s growing season. Right now keep the soil dry, and give it plenty of bright light, but it’s better to avoid direct afternoon sun. The bottom leaves are going to dry up and it will push out new growth from the top during Autumn and Winter.

I read somewhere that it’s looking for more light? A few of my succulents did this. When I moved them to a different window (southeasterly) they started looking better? Hope that helps!

It’s on a window that gets lots of light, specially in the afternoon.

What type of light? Which direction? All the research says not enough light. Southern exposure? You could cut the crown off and propagate another?

South facing window. This one was recently reported from the tiny pot I bought it in.
