Am I right in thinking this is a Haworthia fasciata “Royal Albert?” And will the rosette open eventually, or do some just stay closed off like this? Little dude was repotted ~1 week ago in a mix of 50% E.B Succulent soil & 50% calcined clay. Any & all advice appreciated 💚

he will be safer in a smaller pot 🙂 too big pots often lead to root rot, especially for succulents. basically the plant is too small to drink all the water in time

Ah thank you! I’ll scale down.

1-2 inches bigger in diameter than the container it came in is a good general guideline to leave room for growth, without getting it waterlogged!

Ahh so I have to build them up slowly instead of plunking them immediately in my “goal” size pot. Thank you for the advice!! (If the roots are kinda shallow, and the previous square pot I had it in was 1.5,” would scaling up to a round 2” be enough?)

that should be totally fine, especially if the roots are minimal. succulents tend to be slow growers and most are even happy to be a bit root bound. when you see roots poking out of the bottom then it's telling you it's ready for a bigger house :)
