two of my mexican snowball propagations are turning brown & kinda mushy. they look too small to plant yet, am I wrong? what should I do from here?

The babies take moisture and nutrients from the leaf causing the leaf to slowly die off. I would leave it attached for now.

The leaves usually dry up as the babies grow, but every now and then they turn translucent and mushy like yours: that’s rot, and not normal. Separate the baby from the leaf before it starts to rot as well. You will have to keep an eye on the baby, since it is too small 😕

The leaf that’s just curled up on the end is normal. The leaf on the left that’s entirely translucent is the one that’s rotten
