Hi! I’m new to taking care of plants. Last week, I got this pot with succulents as a gift. I was wondering if it’s alright to keep them all in the same pot. Should I assume they all need the same amount of indirect light? I have the pot by the window south facing, however, there the light doesn’t come straight to the window since there is a roof eave next to the window due to a corridor. Any suggestions on what to do? I was reading that the panda plant needs a lot of light, but maybe not as much as the other ones. I also noticed the leafs of the panda plant are bended facing down. Is that normal? I’d really appreciate your advice!

I highly recommend you separate them soon. There’s no airflow around the plants which isn’t good, and they may have different needs. Always good to check what soil succulents are potted in as well because a lot of times it’s not going to be a fast-draining mix like they need.

Thanks! I bought succulent mix soil and will separate them all today. I also have small pots 😊

Updates: I cleaned the succulent from all the white insects I was able to see. I’m showing this photo from the bottom because it has this particular color that I don’t know if that’s a sign of something. My guess is that the insects were drying out the leaves, that’s why they easily fell off or are very flat when I squeeze them. Although, on the crown of the succulent, I can see baby green new leaves. Is that a good sign? I would appreciate to get your advice on what to do next. Thanks!

If that one plant was that infested, I think you should treat all the plants as if they were infested. So I wouldn’t put any of them in the same room as any other plants. I am not sure what kind of pest you found, but you should identify what it was so that you can treat all the plants accordingly. Honestly I would consider just buying some other succulents and forgetting about this arrangement unless you’re attached to them (which I totally am to most of my plants 😂). Because taking on this many plants that need to be treated for pests is a big undertaking and it looks like two are already in poor health. Do you have other plants that would risk being infected?

Thanks for the advice. I’ll see how they develop after repotting. As for the insects, those were white flies. 😕

Update 2: the panda plant is in really bad condition, could it be saved in any way? 😭

Thank you for your post and questions. And thanks everyone for replying. I was about to to ask the same type of question about mixed varieties. The red arrow succulents were a Lowes rescue. All three in this tiny broken white pot. The yellow arrow is pointing to a new pup off the stalk of the larger succulent. And the orange arrows are where the leaf lands may it prosper. There are 5 leaf pups in various stages in the pot. After reading everyone’s comments, it looks like this is probably fine as long as the plants have enough air circulation around them. Yes? No?
