ey plant friends! 👋🏾 so i never even thought about the possibility that our ric-rac cactus could flower, but look at these! at least 9 buds from this view. anyone have suggestions on how to help the flowers thrive? thought i’d stop here before googling it 🌸

Did you buy it large or have you been growing it for a long time? I haven’t really seen one that big ☺️

it was a decent size when i bought it back in april from a local nursery, & it has since doubled in size! just following planta’s suggestions for when to fertilize it seems to have really made a difference in it’s growth 👌🏾

Ooo please update us with photos of flowers open! You can usually still see them open in early morn hours when you wake. I have another variety of night blooming cactus. So magical! Only thing i know is you are supposed to fertilize when buds of flowers first start, then pause fertilization until after flowers have expired. Never during. Thats just in general for anything flowering. But with these cactus, flowers develop fairly quickly, so 🤷🏻‍♀️, unsure if that rule still applies.

I’ve had it for about 8 months. I was given one leaf. Now it has 5. It’s still in a 4 inch pot.

just so you know i’m pretty sure this is disocactus anguliger, also known as ric-rac cactus, fishbone cactus, or “queen of the night” for it’s large and beautiful night-blooming flowers
