What should I do? Give him support or clip at the little knuckles and plant those? Tips? To be clear, he does this even under a grow light.

The new growth in mine is a little flopsy too and it’s baking in full sun. The older growth stiffens with time. I think it’s just part of it’s natural growth pattern.

Ahh the Pencil Cactus or Fire Stick Cactus. So cute when we buy them and then they turn into a Medusa, or an octopus with wild leggy appendages. And to make things worse, it’s got that poisonous sap that you have to wear gloves for. None of my cuttings ever took roots, which is fine because the thing groove back twice the size anyway. I even have to not repot it but receded in the pot because it’s so top-heavy on one side. In the image the two red arrows are pointing to my 1 Pencil Cactus.
