I’m learning more and more each day. I bought pots before I knew what I know now. This pot along with one other one makes me crazy lol. The attached saucer is not for me. And honestly, to me it looks like …. lol. My plant looks happy but I dread water day because I have to tilt the whole plant to make sure water isn’t sitting in there. I measured his “waist” at 15” - so that’s a string tied around his widest part and not tightly.. what would be your pot of choice? I’d love something that sort of hugs the leaves and makes a bit of a statement on my desk. :)

I hear you! When I first started getting into plants, I only bought pots that had attach saucers and I bought a lot! Now I prefer either terra-cotta pots for some of the plants that I either tend to overwater or just like to stay on the dryer side, but Plastic nursery pots are really great. Then you can use anything for a cover pot and you can switch them as often as you’d like. Watering is.waaayyy easier too. And they always have great drainage.

I use the hard pots as holders for the thin plastic nursery pots. It’s so easy to repot from the thin plastic pots verses clay or ceramic pots. It’s easier to check the roots in the pliable plastic pots.

Well he got a nice new organic pot with a nice drainage hole. I used his previous soil medium and I only had to use about half! Roots looked great too.

S.M.S. Requesting Ermecgemcy Assistance S.M.S I too am beginning to loath, despise, hate plant pot manufacturers who are selling pots like drugs on the street knowing the pot is bad for your plant therefore bad for you. ——————— Dealer: Psst. Yes you. Check out this pot from this designer. See she even has her plants looking good hooked on the pot. Me: Wow. I do need another pot. Thanks man for the sale. {several weeks later} Me: What’s wrong little one? OMG the pot is bad pot and its killing you! WHY ? OH WHY DID I DO THIS AGAIN? ——————— Exhibit A: It’s been about two months since i transplanted my Snake Plant into this new pot. The old pot had an inward curving rim and as new shoots would form they would get trapped underneath the rim. Plus, it was getting too tight, at least i thought, after two years. Yesterday was the first day I gave it any fluids because when i repotted it I watered it then. Days later he looked sick so i added more perlite and I let the whole thing dry out. I do not like this yellow green color. There are shoots coming out of the center of each of those still, but I just hate it. I hate it that it’s not as green as it used to be. Suggestions ? This stupid pot came from some stupid swanky gardening center that only a stupid person like me buys because it was on huge discount sale. Places where I got this pot, and places like Home Depot and Lowe’s, and then all those stupid little pots in CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid, should not be permitted to be sold unless there is more than one hole on the bottom of the pot AND/OR there are side drainage holes towards the bottom of the pot. Yes this pot has one large hole in the bottom. It’s still smaller than the hole in my head for buying the pot.

I totally get it! I always rush to rescue them out of their nursery pots and into something “cute” and now I have a porch full of stupid cute pots. I have a heavy hand with water and hubby blames it on me being an Italian mama. Ok… This pot looks good.

I potted so many things “before I knew what I know now.” I have, at least, fixed the most recent list of “visually and aesthetically pleasing pots with the wrong soil.”
