This one is just a sad share. A week ago Saturday I knocked over one of my potted cactus plants. Now if my thumb could speak it would have said “Look at that. I Guess they were right. You are dumber than me.” My advice to those like me who sometimes do things that we know are a bad idea but we do it anyway… DO NOT DO IT. My bad idea started months ago when I purchased a clay pot that had a V shape to it. So small base wider opening. A perfectly normal pot but obviously not for something tall. And this was mistake number 1. I put my tall toothpick cactus AND my tall snowy prickly pear cactus INTO the V like pot. I was very careful every time I moved. Mot just moved the pot but every times I moved anywhere near the pot. (At this point you see my male DNA was working just like it does every day, always missing a protein link to full information.) With storm approaching I decided to bring the potted cactus indoors and to my bedroom on the second floor. The bed room gets the most sun even though the windows face west. After assessing all of the possible places to put the potted cactus, and all the pro’s and con’s, I made the stellar decision to place the V shaped potted cactus with tall cactus coming out of the top, on the small but tall pedestal table in front of the window next to my bed. And thus it became official I was a contender for the What a Dumb Ass Award. Some would say a shoe-in to win. Hours later, like slow motion horror, I bumped the tall lean pedestal table, that was holding the V like pot that was holding the tall and top heavy two cacti. Wobble, wobble, wobble, went the table, the pot, and the cacti. As the cacti went from vertical to horizontal, the portion of my brain that thought it was all a good idea to put the pedestal table, V-shaped pot, and tall cacti out of V-shaped pot all together as a trio, then said to the rest of my brain… - Don’t panic. I got this. Hands move NOW to catch the cactus. - Yes hands did as the abnormal brain told them to do that is until hands, and arms, felt the cacti needles thrusted into the skin. When that happened hands realized how painful it was trying to do what they were told, and that abnormal brain had to be dealt with sooner than later. With hands and arms pulling back out of danger the eyes continued to watch and document the fall of the screaming cacti as they hit the floor. They’re laying on the floor what is a tall, prickly, pear, cactus dislodged from its comfortable potted place, with a needle or two broken from outside. He would live. For Snow, our tall snow prickly pear cacti, the severed parts of her body were everywhere. With no feeling I just picked them all up slowly and placed them into a coffee cup next to the bed the cup was filled with broken pad parts, and I left it. Sit there for at least five days. On the sixth day, I decided I could rebuild her, and him. I can make them stronger, better, and taller. We had the technology and we were gonna make them live, and make them live in a non-wobbly pot. Here are pictures of T.C., mending Snow, and the surrounding scattered Snow pads offspring of theirs.

This was T.C. and Snow in their swanky V-shaped pot before abnormal brain took over and started them on a crash they could not get out of.
