What would you do? (And no I’m not John Quinones.) A recent storm blew a Prickly Pear cactus that I had in a round pot, and sitting on a short to the ground table, off the table “crashing” to the ground. I say “crashing” meaning the pot is now cracked, versus “smashing” meaning the pot would have smashed open. ☺️ So the pot has a bad crack and can be mended. The Prickly Pear though needed some TLC though because one pad was supporting three extension pads, and those three pads had 3 or more additional pads each. While this potted Prickly Pad was not officially top heavy, like some of my other Prickly Pad potted cacti, it still was the sail for the wind in the storm. All three pads connected to the main pad needed to be severed off. I performed the surgery days ago and let the pads callous over for a couple of days. Yesterday I planted the three in a rectangular terracotta pot. Looking at the before and after pics…would you also cut the pads sprouting out of each of the three or leave them connected? If you suggest cutting them and planting them too then why?
