Hey planta friends! I’ve been taking care of this aloe plant for my best friend for a few weeks now, first 3 pics are from today, the last pic is the day I got it. I’m not super familiar with aloe at ALL. But there’s 3 new leaves, and it’s now standing up almost completely on its own, so I know it’s improving. Any further suggestions to bring this baby back to life? 🥹

    I’m definitely not the smartest when it comes to plants, I just wing it. I found that for me, having all of my succulents in succulent soil with added perlite has really helped them thrive. I’m not sure what kind of soil yours is in? Also make sure it’s receiving lots of light! I found my succulents enjoy being around the grow lights I have. I’m definitely an overwater, so I also grabbed a cheap moisture meter from Amazon to help me determine when my aloe is really ready for some water. YouTube is also a great informative resource for learning more, I’ve found there they have so much educational and fun content about every plant I bring home! Good luck!

      Thank you so much! Right now it’s in cactus/succulent soil, maybe I’ll mix in some perlite too before I give it back to my bff.

      I recently started mixing perlite in all of my soils and I honestly love it 🫣 definitely something fun to start doing! i notice the difference in the airiness (is that how you spell it??) in the soil!

      So you mix perlite in every soil? If it helps, I need to do the same.

      I add perlite to all my mixtures. Tropical, succulent, all of them. The amount varies depending, but I add it to everything.

      Exactly how I do it! I don’t like any store bought bags of soil without some added perlite. I’m not too fancy when it comes to my soil mixtures, so I usually do equal parts perlite and soil.

    Aloe’s are slow growers/recovers, so if you’re seeing improvement then just keep doing what you’re doing! I agree with the above, add some perlite.
