Serious question are you supposed to remove the pups from your cactus? It is so tedious and I accidentally leave wounds, but if I leave them it gets completely overtaken.

    The specific cactus I have is a golden needle or I think they call it a lady finger

      I would let a ladyfinger grow. It wants to clump and be bushy.
