Hi there! I brought this guy home the other day. From a big box store. He was root bound and the soil was soaked. Repotted him up 2” into a gorgeous pot. It’s more bowl shaped though. Will he keep his upright look? Also, since he was soaked, I used new dry succulent soil. Should I skip watering after his repotting?

It looks great! Being root bound didn’t seem to hurt it. You may have bought it right after they watered it. It shows no indication of being overwatered. Probably won’t need watering if you kept the old wet soil around the root ball. You will need to water if all the soil was changed out or it feels dry.

Yes I left the old soil around the root ball. I did notice this one area must’ve been under soil before.. is it ok?

      That should be ok.

I’d skip. Not everything needs to be “watered in”. You’ve got me wanting to do a run to Lowe’s so that I can get a snake plant that looks larger than a freaking caterpillar! That plant and pot are amazing.

Eek! Is this a bad sign? His tallest leaf is bending over.

There is nothing wrong with your new baby. If the largest leaf is bothering you, cut it and try your hand and growing new plants. You’ve got enough plant there to do a million and one experiments. Or just rotate it and it will lean towards the direction of light.

Thank you! Yea. He’s probably actually stretching from being all smooshed and waterlogged lol :)

I love how much you’re already loving in your new plant baby. It’s adorable.

Aww. I couldn’t figure out why I suddenly neeeed alll the plants. Then it hit me- my kids are all grown and self sufficient so I have to have something to nurture. :)

That makes sense! I realized that I needed some plant/dirt therapy. I’m a vegetable gardener on an extended hiatus. It has become almost like a compulsion, but I’m trying not to get to the point where my house looks like a botanical garden. No offense to anyone with plants sitting on couches and obstructing walkways. Just not my personal aesthetic.

Yea. I agree. My living room is pretty maxed out now. I wouldn’t have great places for many more and I tried a grow light for my fiddle and couldn’t stand it so figured out how to get him by the window. I tell ya which plants I’m failing with lol- herbs! Basil looks ok but the parsley, nah not for me . She’s a diva
