These are my 4 Desert Rose plants that I have had for about 3 years. You can see that I have kept them alive but they have never thrived or blossomed. The 3 small pots sit in a south facing window and the larger one sits in an east facing window Can anyone give me any advice on growing these? I have been following Planta’s watering and fertilizing schedule

Get a grow light. Maybe repot with some fresh soil/ next size up pot. The grow light is a game changer

I think I will try the grow light and some new soil. Thank you!

I’ve seen that Planta tells you to water these a little more often than you are supposed to. These things thrive in shallow pots as well. That’s what makes the caudex(trunk) widen. Instead of the roots growing downward, they use the energy to swell up their caudex. I would water them less than what Planta says and keep him in the sun as much as you possibly can.

Also, like Edward said, a grow light while inside would be a good idea.

Thank you. I will skip every other water and see how that does. And when I repot I’ll look for a shallow pot.

I have found that Planta does tell you to water more often. However, I use a water meter to tell when the soil is dry enough for watering and just snooze function in the app to remind me to keep checking the plant.

Did you buy them local or online? I’ve wanted one for a while.

I bought them online through Etsy.
