It’s been SOOO HARD but I’ve left these props completely alone for about 2 weeks now (?? maybe longer idk lol) should I start misting them? if so, how often?

This is such a controversial topic in the plant community 😅 I don’t mist mine whatsoever. Someone can feel free to correct me or suggest a better method, but I just leave them alone until the parent leaves die. Mine have been chilling without mist for about 6 months and the props are doing well

Thank you :) I’ve also heard mixed opinions! I’m new to succulent propagations so I’m super anxious for these to work out lol

i only start giving them water once the leaf starts to shrivel and i can see a sizeable pup growing. after that they get treated like any other succulent— i wait til the soil is completely dry plus a few days before watering. i’ve had nothing but success growing a few echeveria and sedum species this way

Don’t mist. But as soon as you see babies start to form, its best to fertilize the soil right beneath leaves. You can add liquid fertilizer to water and put in a squirt or dropper bottle and carefully wet the soil without wetting the leaves. This will give them needed boost for roots to be put down.

I read all the comments and this is what I’ve leaned over the past year: - Be thankful when one does take off with a pup. There could or will be many that do not. Do not feel like you did something wrong. - I have found that misting depends on how dry the dirt is or was and how deep i planted the leaf. Some I literally just toss into any plant pot and where it lands it lands. (That has worked better than any other method.) Others I shove into dirt and what will be will be. And the last method, that has been the most frustrating, is the organized-lay nicely-check-on-maybe-mist-maybe-not- mist method. Looks like for these guys you’ve got nice roots. I look at the roots with some empathy for them. Root experiences. Hmmm. Me: Ouch! Dentist: Oh come on now. Man up. Your tooth root is exposed. No biggie. Me: Looking good. Friends: Yes as long as we’re not looking at your gray roots. Me: Look at the tiny roots. They’re so cute out here in the air and sun. Roots: OMG someone please cover us! He’s trying to kill us! Maybe roots have feelings too. 😁

Hi, I learned the toss method worked best, and no judging, when I moved my couch and found a leaf with roots reaching into my carpet. I looked at that leaf and thought to myself… - Seriously? I give all of you you a nice bed of dirt and all you want is a dark, under the couch, piece of carpet? - That’s when I learned my lessons. Toss the leaves and let them be. And tell parents “See. Vacuuming less is better for plants than vacuuming more.” 😂
