I’m new to cactus care and what are the basic care instructions for my spikesarus rex?

    Sun sun sun sun. I’d repot in a larger vessel, it will give you more room for watering error—plus I bet those roots are pretty tight in there. Repotting this really spiny type of cactus HURTS, so I would wear some kind of protective gloves. And then just keep sunning and sunning and sunning.

      You said what my brain reminded me when I look at grusonii or others like it. These will stab you under your finger mail until you yell something about barrel types being the great white shark of the cactus world. And - in the specific case of this species - sun sun sun.
