It’s July heat up in here, so I brought out a few who I believe can handle it - with a little acclimation. We have Brazil, Mexico and South Africa up on the shelf. The four on the bottom haven’t had full sun exposure in a while, but this inexpensive IKEA rack gives a nice buffer from mid day scorching. Plus, top and bottom are cool to the touch, which makes it my new unsung plant hero. You have to understand how many elaborate ways I had planned on trying to keep the murderous July/August sun and heat off my prime spot at my last place. Note the “cast” on Corpuscularia lehmannii. I guess it’s more of a girdle for support after so many splits. And it looks really plump and vibrant this evening. Yay, my plants survived me for one more day.

It is one of my favorite random purchases (from a U-Haul set up in a parking lot).

Hi there, Love the table! Are you keeping your Tooth Pick Cactus underneath until they are used to the sun? My T.C. here was given to me in Nov 2019 by my Sister and Brother-in-law as they moved out west. He was 2” back then. He’s 11” now. His bunk mate was purchased Fall of 2020 after his first bunk mate was eaten by a ferocious lion. The current bunk mate was also only 2” when I got him and now over a foot tall. I leave them out doors, out my front door which faces west, until it gets cold end of Sept. I let mother nature water them all summer with rain.

Yes on acclimation because they have barely been outside this year and the next days will near 100 degrees. Just testing them out and trying to avoid that melting mid-day blast. I’m also only 2 weeks in this new place and figuring out where everything goes. Ps these are Polaskia chichipe.

Also, thanks for those stories. And wow on that growth.

Oh, and the spot in my pic is South-facing and full direct sun for eight or more hours depending on where I put the stand. It’s going to be an awesome spot in September!

This is T.C. (On right) when I got him in 2019. His bunk mate hated living here. I’ve been told he jumped out of the pot and ran across the floor to the door but then ran out of energy so he fell apart and died on the carpet. At least that’s what the cat who was baby sitting that day told me.
