I put Sydney inside under a cool indoor light last week, and then…saw some bugs. She had been outside for a while, and she hadn’t been repotted since April 2022 (I made sure to ask the previous owner ha). The bottom is some shale bits (taken from a trilobite quarry in Delta, Utah) then commercial cact and suc soil, a layer of pumice, put her back in, cover the top with lava rock and some other rocks. I’m not aiming for perfection. That pot is plastic, but it’s fancy and stays cool in the heat. No need to switch IMHO. I did once drill a drainage hole, but that’s it. Note that this was inspired today by Planta alerts of hot temperatures. I’ve wanted her inside for a while, anyway. Note that a bandana will not protect you from these tiny spines. They are not anywhere near as bad as another prickly pear who unloaded so many spines into my leg, hands, arms that I felt temporarily high. Not a good high. Tingly and confused ha.
