Hi everyone! Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am a teacher and I have several little succulents I like to keep. Magically, I have kept them alive all year but now many of them are starting to go brown and get crispy leaves. I can’t figure out if I am over watering, or under watering. (Which is why I got the app) They all sit on the same window sill and get plenty of light, not harshly but.. enough? Here are a few pics of them. Any advice on what is happening here? I just want to keep them alive and thriving. 😂 Thanks! Also I kind of guessed on what kind of succulents they are so if you actually know, feel free to let me know.

They might also need bigger pots and succulent potting mix, depending on the soil type they’re in. I find that when I buy succulents, they’re always planted in soil but then when I repot them into a gritty potting mix like Superfly Bonsai Succulent and Bonsai. You can get it on Amazon. Also, it’s best to water succulents a lot in one go, let all the water run off, then remove the excess water so they’re not standing in it and let the potting mix dry out completely before watering again.

Definitely buy a water meter. Check once a week and if totally dry, water until the water comes out the bottom. Pull off the dead. Succulents don’t have a huge root system so I wouldn’t worry about the pot size.

Agree about the overwatering. I’m not an expert on succulents but ime the stretching comes from too little light. My echevaria needs a surprising amount of light (and surprisingly little water) it wasn’t happy until it was getting the brightest direct light in my south-facing window.

your first succulent is leggy ! also known as “etiolation” meaning that your plant is stretching you find light because it needs more. you can fix thing by cutting the plant and it’ll soon grow again. don’t throw away the part you cut! you can propergate it! you can just stick it in soil and it’ll eventually grow roots! or you can do leaf propagation method where you twist the leaves off, let them callous for about 4 days then stick them in soil, they’ll eventually also grow roots ! hope this helps!💜

Succulents can also drop leaves from old “age” to help get energy for new growth, for the last 2 pics I thinks that’s the case along with irregular watering
